Kitty Croquet is
the pseudonym used by Szuting McCallum, creative director and
co-designer.
The name Kitty Croquet was chosen because it represents a curious
and feminine character that cats exude and a character that
the designers of the shoe label can follow.
Though Szuting studied in Chinese caligraphy and painting, she
is self trained when it comes to footwear. She has conducted
her autonomous studies in cobbler's work shops in Australia,
China and her home country of Taiwan. Originally working with
men's footwear since 2002, she made the jump to female shoes
in her debut Spring/Summer 06/07 collection.
The Kitty Croquet style under the stewardship of Szuting has
grown to find it's own signature looks. Her styles steer clear
of super high heels and razor toes, along with wedding, evening
or gltizy looks. Instead her designs have been described as
feminine, fun, quirky, intelligent and unpretentious.
The majority of the designs originate from two other designers.
After each concept design is put forward all three designers
collaboratively refine the finished product. They have asked
not to be named on this website because they also design for
other shoe labels. Kitty Croquet remains their project of passion
and they are happy for Szuting to represent their unified human
face. |
